Navy Veteran Attacked By Shiv Sena Goons

A veteran of the Indian Navy was attacked by Shiv Sena goons in Maharashtra on Friday for sharing a cartoon on WhatsApp. A complaint filed has been filed and an FIR has been registered regarding the matter, Times Now has reported. The veteran confirmed that he was brutalised for sharing the WhatsApp forward. He also said that the Police has first come to arrest him.

The veteran also said that he had never expected such a thing to happen to him in his own country. He said that he was helped by the local MLA who is from the Bharatiya Janata Party. Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to put an end to the ‘Gundaraj’ and demanded strong punishment for the guilty.


CCTV footage of the incident are also doing the rounds on social media where the veteran can allegedly been seen being attacked by a bunch of goons. The victim has been identified as Madan Sharma. The WhatsApp forward was allegedly a satirical cartoon featuring Uddhav Thackeray and his allies Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi.

A man from Wadala in Mumbai was thrashed and his head shaved by some Shiv Sena workers for allegedly making a derogatory comment against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Facebook. The incident happened in Shanti Nagar area of Wadala East on Friday.

The person, identified as Hiramani Tiwari, had posted a derogatory comment against Uddhav Thackeray on December 20 when the Maharashtra chief minister had spoken against police action in Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi comparing it to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

On Sunday, some Shiv Sena workers traced Hiramani Tiwari's location in Wadala East and called him outside his residence. Videos of the assault have gone viral on social media platforms where Shiv Sena workers are seen abusing and assaulting Tiwari. The Sena workers initially abused and thrashed Tiwari and later forcibly shaved his head.

The Wadala TT police station issued notices to Hiramani Tiwari and the Shiv Sena workers under relevant sections of CrPC which states that "the two parties had resolved their differences and [the parties] should abide and maintain law and order and if they fail to do so, they will be prosecuted and an FIR will be registered against them under appropriate sections".

Speaking to media persons, Hiramani Tiwari said, "After posting a comment on Uddhav Thackeray, I started receiving threats following which I deleted the post. On Sunday, some Shiv Sena workers came to my residence and asked me to come out. They started assaulting and abusing me and shaved my head."

He added, "The assault has damaged my eardrum and it has been certified by the doctors. If this is the way Shiv Sena functions then it is very dangerous. Police initially took my complaint but later gave us notices under Section 149 of Crpc. I demand that strict action be taken against the Shiv Sena workers who had assaulted me."

The Wadala TT police station in Mumbai registered a case of assault, defamation and criminal intimidation against some Shiv Sena workers who had attacked and tonsured a person identified as Hiramani Tiwari for allegedly posting a derogatory comment against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Shiv Sena workers attack doctor after hospital staff inscribe numbers on Mumbai stampede victims

Six men from Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena party attacked the head of the civic body-run KEM Hospital’s forensic department, Dr Harish Pathak, on Saturday. The political workers were upset that the hospital’s forensic department staff wrote numbers on the bodies of the Mumbai stampede victims.

The hospital drew criticism from several quarters for writing numbers on the foreheads of the stampede victims. The photos of the victims with numbers on their foreheads were put up to expedite the process of identification, PTI quoted the hospital as saying. Twenty-three people died in the stampede on the foot overbridge near Mumbai’s Elphinstone Road and Parel railway stations.

Nilesh Dhumal (pictured above; in white) tried to write the number zero on Pathak’s forehead during the heated argument. A journalist who was interviewing Pathak when the Shiv Sena workers stormed in intervened.

Dhumal defended his actions. “He has hurt our feelings,” claimed Dhumal. “All those who died in the incident are my brothers and sisters. The hospital had zero humanity so I wanted to write number zero on his forehead.”

A terrified staff said “We worked round-the-clock to conduct the autopsies and we are being punished,”
