Is Shiv Sena A Party Of Modern Day Gundas And Goons?

When doing research for this story, I was overwhelmed with information to write about but I wanted to know how a person living in Mumbai felt about Shiv Sena and their party members. So, I called up my friend in Mumbai, and this is what he had to say.
Is Shiv Sena A Party Of Modern Day Gundas And Goons?
Yes. A big YES! And this comes from a marathi manoos, living in Mumbai Metropolitan region, considered to be a stronghold of the party.
The display of hooliganism by their former MP, Ravindra Gaikwad is a proof enough of this. Not only did he hit an Airline staff with a footwear 25 times, that shameless man bragged about it on TV. Air India and 6 other airlines had banned him on their travel list and cancelled his tickets 4 times. Poor he had to travel by train, vehicle and Chartered plane. Man I enjoyed all this time. Sadly, the ban was lifted, which was surely to happen, though I expected some more ticket cancellations.

What he did was definitely wrong, and it was so unbecoming of a public representative to do this. However, as always, Shiv Sena leadership and the average ‘shivsainik’ stood behind this stupid man and trended hashtags like #ISupportRavindraGaikwad. Shivsena Members, said shamelessly “MP shi waad ghalnar tyala chappalach milnar” (The one who argues with an MP deserves to be hit by a chappal).
This is not all. Their former Union minister, Anant Geete, charged at the former Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju Pusapathi, during a discussion in the LS and is unapologetic, which is completely Shivsena behaviour. A Cabinet minister of their party behaves in such a junglee manner, what do you expect from a grassroot worker? Anything less than hooliganism?

Back in 2012, when Balasaheb Thackeray expired, a day after Bhaubij, a diwali day, we, along with almost everyone in the locality, voluntarily did not switch on our diwali lanterns as a mark of respect. This happened all over the city. Today I wonder, seriously do these people even deserve our respect?

Our Municipal Council is governed by Shiv Sena. And it is an epitome of corruption. The city is in distress, with visible lack of infrastructure. In monsoons, the roads turn into waterways and we joke about buying boats instead of bikes. The construction of an important arterial road is underway from 2014 September and it has still not been completed. The paver blocks used for the work are already crushed to powder, such is their quality. Side gutter are non existent, rainwater runs on roads. They broke a newly laid concrete road, because they forgot to lay the drainage lines. There are no parks, (with a couple of exceptions) but parks are a luxury, when a necessity like roads is not being provided. We are in the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) and we still face erratic electric supply. Law and order is down the drains. Loud music blares late night. People dig up holes in the roads so they can put up bamboos for a pandal during a marriage in the house. Hawkers and Rikshawallahs are the worst, with no control by the authorities. 6 Corporators have been murdered in past 10 years. All these problems, in a city in Mumbai Metropolitan region, where the MP, MLA as well as the local administration is of Shiv Sena. Whereas another Municipal council in MMR, 8 km further that means away from Mumbai than us, has a good administration and good infrastructure. We have a joke on social media about our city.

In spite of all these, these people were elected back in last elections, in April 2015, this time with a clear majority. Hooliganism and goondaraj is what prevails here. Their so called support base is so strong that, even if they put up a dog as a candidate, it will get elected. Such is the party and such is their support base.
Shivsena is not much if you remove MMR from the picture. In the recent Municipal council and Municipal corporation elections, they fared poorly everywhere except Mumbai and Thane. Shivsena is nothing without NDA. It is not even a regional party, it is a municipal party, with support based on hooliganism.

Their rant of marathi-marathi, gets them nowhere. They hit people from northern states, because so called marathi manoos does not want to do petty jobs, which they take over. They hit south Indian hotel owners, because so called marathi manoos don't have the capability to run a hotel. They shout at Gujarati business owners, because so called marathi manoos lacks the humility and decency to run a business successfully. Just notice the difference of treatment you receive when you visit a shop with a Gujarati owner and a Marathi owner. Mark my words, even just for a day, North-Indians, South Indians and Gujarati-marwadis stop working, Mumbai will come to a stand still. Right from the roadside breakfast stalls or Chai stalls, which millions of employees use daily to the high end malls and hotels will just stop functioning. Let us see then how these Shivsainiks help.

Their estranged leader who floated his own party is now at the verge of extinction. All he has is 7 Corporators in Mumbai Corporation and a few stray seats here and there. In my opinion he is Maharashtra's Donald Trump. He doesn't want immigrants to work in his city, because his marathi people are either incapable or too lazy to take up the work which these people do. This man ended his political career by ranting Marathi-marathi and now the same fate may await Shiv Sena if they do not mend their hooligan ways.
Lastly, I must say that I am a marathi manoos and I am proud of my language as everyone is. But I have not and will not vote for these supposed thekedaars of the marathi people. Do not insult me and many more like myself by saying that we supported Shiv Sena.
Hope you got a proper understanding on how Shiv Sena and their members work and about their gundaraj.
This is the video evidence of how these the party members treat common people of Mumbai:
